Give the Devil Nothing Master Your Thoughts
Acts 5: 3-4 Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God."
The devil will use whatever you give him against you. It really is that simple. There are two sides in this life. The side that aligns with God and the side that aligns with the world. The Bible makes it clear who rules the world:
I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, - John 14: 30
Jesus is speaking of the devil here and referring to him as the ruler of this world. There are thus two lines of thought; Godly thinking and worldly thinking. Our thought life is what leads to our actions. Sin always begins somewhere as a thought. While we cannot always control what might pop into our head, we can control what we do with it:
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2Corinthians 10: 5
The knowledge of God represents Godly thinking. It is found in His Word. The Bible gives us insight into the thinking of God. It gives us the plans we need to navigate the treacherous world we live in. It assures us of the promises God has made and the covenant we are in with Him. God is His Word:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. John 1: 1-5
