First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. - 1Timothy 2:1-2 (ESV)
I have consistently made the argument that Dr. Michael Brown is a dominionist and gatekeeper of NAR false teachers. I do so without malice as I openly admit that I used to like Dr. Brown and even appeared on his radio show twice. He has decades worth of experience providing service to the body of Christ, including advocating for Israel and being a bible answer man. He recently traded that all in for his thirty pieces of political silver. That is because Brown always has been an ardent Donald Trump supporter. Sure, I bet he wishes Trump would not say half the things he does but this man, who recently accused his detractors from being divisive, recently said that he saw no way a Christian could vote for a Democrat. That is the first hypocrisy I want to highlight. The second is that Brown is fond of accusing discernment ministries of using "unequal weights"; which is something God hates. Yet as we will see in this devotional, the person truly using unequal measurements is Dr. Brown. We will use the above link from an article he wrote today about of all things, an alleged prayer for Joe Biden. Let us reason once more together beloved.
"In the immediate aftermath of President Biden's major announcement on Sunday, stating that he was dropping out of the presidential race, a flood of responses was quickly posted online. Political pundits were weighing in. Cultural commentators were sharing their perspectives. Social media influencers were having their say. After all, this was a seismic announcement.
But since I have nothing of political substance to add to the many perspectives that have been shared on TV, in online video commentaries, in articles and in memes, I'll offer up a prayer for President Biden instead. As I posted on X Sunday afternoon:
While President Biden has been an enemy of the pro-life movement and has pushed for many causes which I strongly oppose, I still grieve over him as a person for whom Jesus died. May he truly come to know the Lord and His mercy and goodness while he still has breath!" - Dr. Michael Brown
Brown is trying to appear pious in offering a prayer for the man he refers to in starkly negative terms. The problem, is this was not presented as a prayer. There is no mention that this was even supposed to be considered a prayer. I do not know what prayer school Dr. Brown attended but I do not usually see a prayer for someone, even for their salvation, first listing what you think are their greatest sins. As if God is not already acutely aware of all of our sins. It is especially peculiar given that he is making this "prayer" in public for everyone to see. It would be like praying for someone in your church and starting with "Lord we all know Bob here is a horrible wretch. We all know he is your enemy with his multiple affairs on his wife and the fact that he routinely beats his puppy. May you reach down into the mud where he wallows and lift him up." There is no genuineness to these kinds of prayers whatsoever. It appears that Brown offered them up as more of a political statement than anything else. Furthermore, the absolute presumption that Biden needs saving is equally hypocritical. This is why we are not to deal in matters of judgment; a point Brown loves to make if anyone questions his idol Trump. After the recent assassination attempt, Brown gushed with the praise and possibilities for Trump:
