Dr. Michael Brown and Charisma News Continue to Stoke Outrage about the Olympics

By Anthony Wade

Now Charisma is joining the grievance merchants demanding the church hate the world...

"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.- Matthew 7:1-5 (ESV)

We knew it was just a matter of time beloved. The NAR and their political masters want to gin up as much outrage and victimhood as possible in the church in order to try and mobilize them to vote in four months for all things Republican. They know an angry Christian is more likely to vote than one who knows the intellectual difference between a depiction of a French painting and a depiction from an Italian painting. They do not want church folk to discern that, like the Sons of Thunder before us, we know not of what spirit we are, which is why we attack our fellow man even though they need the gospel. Above are two links that just came out, one not surprisingly from self-appointed, not anointed, culture warrior: Dr. Michael Brown. Let us start with the first link, the shorter one, from CBN News.

"The opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics mocked the sacred Last Supper of Jesus Christ with a blasphemous drag queen presentation over the weekend, fueling global outrage that finally forced Olympics organizers to issue a partial apology on Sunday. Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps claimed on Sunday, "Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group" If people have taken any offense we are, of course, really, really sorry." Christians around the world were stunned by the disturbing image of seeing a sexualized recreation of Leonardo da Vinci's famous "The Last Supper" painting." - CBN News

Let us try to deal in facts, which the NAR does not care about. The apology is being wielded by the grievance merchants as some kind of admission of intent and that is simply untrue. The person behind the scene production has said that in no way was the Last Supper from da Vinci, even remotely the inspiration. The apology was a statement saying they are sorry that Christians are reacting like the snowflakes they used to deride other as. For the hundredth time, the world does not revolve around the aggrieved apostate American church. There are other paintings in the world, like the French one depicting the Greek god Dionysus. Perhaps churchgoers are not aware, but the Dionysus was one of the original Olympians, you know, where the Olympics come from? Oh, and what country was hosting this year? Oh yeah, France. It is embarrassing that we continue to be led around by the nose by people who are clearly manipulating us and making us out to be the stupid ones. Stop being the stupid ones. The "global outrage" was fabricated. It was sold to people by leaders who wanted to leverage it, as Charisma News is doing now.

'From the Speaker of the House to billionaire Elon Musk to evangelist Franklin Graham, condemnation was swift and severe. Graham warned, "Even more than being disrespectful to Christians, I would be concerned about being disrespectful to God. His Word tells us, 'Be not deceived, God is not mocked' (Galatians 6:7). Whether you're Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, or Protestant, it is offensive." SpaceX, Tesla and X owner Musk called it "extremely disrespectful to Christians." House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) posted, "Last night's mockery of the Last Supper was shocking and insulting to Christian people around the world who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. The war on our faith and traditional values knows no bounds today. But we know that truth and virtue will always prevail. 'The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.' (John 1:5)."' - CBN News

Elon Musk, a salesman for the Republican Party is hardly Christian. He has said he is only a "cultural Christian" because he believes in the "principles of Christianity." Not exactly a ringing endorsement of saving faith in the work of the cross. Franklin Graham of all people are lecturing people about God not being mocked? Was God mocked when Graham removed Mormonism from the list of cults in the Billy Graham Association website so he could urge Christians to vote for Mitt Romney in 2012? Was God mocked when he endorsed Trump in 2016 after he had sufficiently donated to both of the charities he runs? Was God mocked when Graham changed those charities to the tax designation of "a collective of churches" to avoid disclosing his salaries, which total over one million dollars per year now? Please, Graham has as much credibility here as the French Catholic Church did to try and lecture about morality when this story broke. This is actually what the key verses today really mean. It is about the hypocrisy of judging when you yourself have no moral position to do so. Mike Johnson is simply an opportunistic politician. There is no war on faith. There are believers and unbelievers and guess what? The unbelievers see the things we whine about as utter foolishness. The good news is God has a mechanism in place to try and reach them and it is not by berating them or extending our bony finger in judgment. It is the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ. Too bad we trade that in so easily for our 30 pieces of political silver to make us feel like the Pharisee instead of the publican - at least I am not like this lowly sinner! Except we are far worse because we convince ourselves that our darkness is light, as Johnson did in his quote. As Jesus taught - how deep is that darkness then! On to Dr. Brown:

"For the last 20 years, when it comes to LGBTQ+ people and issues, I have followed this simple directive from the Lord: "Reach out and resist," meaning, "Reach out to the people with compassion; resist the agenda with courage." Or, put another way (and now in the title of a forthcoming book), we should have hearts of compassion and backbones of steel. In keeping with that spirit, I do not demonize those who identify as LGBTQ+, as if all of them were devious sexual predators who gloried in deviant practices and delighted in displays of public perversity.

Why, then, have gay pride events for decades been marked by these very perverse displays? And why were the opening ceremonies of the Olympic games, intended by the planners to draw attention to France's LGBTQ+ community, marked by such perversity?" - Dr. Michael Brown

Yeah, that isn't from the Lord Doc and glad to see you never waste any opportunity to write a new book and plug it. For Jesus of course, wink wink. If your backbone is steel, I would wager that you do not have much compassion. Take for instance thinking you are being balanced by saying, hey not all of you are sexual deviant predators! Remember it was Dr. Brown who has actually supported sexually deviant predators, including the child predators Mike Bickle and Robert Morris. He has also referred to Ravi Zacharias as a great holiness teacher AFTER we learned of his sexually deviant activities. True, once the Bickle allegations included minors he moonwalked away from him as fast as possible, but he still writes for Steven Strang who declared Bickle exonerated in December and even after the minors came to light talked about restoration. I am reminded again about the key verses. Perhaps Dr. Brown is the wrong person to be lecturing the lost about their sexually deviant sins. The other point here is the continued lies that Brown and the grievance machine traffics in regarding what happened. The planners were trying to represent a French painting of the Greek god Dionysus, not da Vinci's Last Supper, as discussed above. Was it perverse? Sure, by most standards, but so was a lot of Greek mythology. This NAR nonsense is so unbiblical. To assume the people who need to hear the gospel, should first behave as if they were already saved. It is so unloving and unChristlike. Perhaps Dr. Brown should develop a spine of steel for the leaders abusing people in the church and all of our internal deviancy before dealing with the lost.

"We can put aside for a moment the debate as to just how offensive the ceremonies were, in particular, the degree of intentionality behind the despicable mockery of DaVinci's "Last Supper" portrait, with a drag queen, wearing a crown, taking the place of Jesus. I will say, though, that the ultimate, ironically tone-deaf comments have come from those celebrating the "inclusivity" of the event, as if mocking something sacred to Christians were being inclusive to them. To quote the Associated Press directly, "In an unprecedented display of inclusivity, drag queens took center stage at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, showcasing the vibrant and influential role of the French LGBTQ+ community"while also attracting criticism over a tableau reminiscent of 'The Last Supper.'" - Dr. Michael Brown

How disingenuous. So Brown first pretends to put aside the debate about how intentional the act was and then judges it as being a mockery of something sacred to Christians. Stop lying Dr. Brown! If you are too ignorant about this, then please stand down and stop embarrassing the faith! There was ZERO intentionality. The picture being circulated by the outrage machine is not the final scene from the event, which still had the long table but sitting upon it was a semi-naked man, painted blue, who was actually supposed to be Dionysus. The quote from the AP only highlights that it attracted criticism. It did not agree with that criticism.

"Or, as expressed by Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps, "Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group. [The opening ceremony] tried to celebrate community tolerance. We believe this ambition was achieved. If people have taken any offense, we are really sorry." Oh, the beauties of community tolerance! Would that the whole world would be tolerant like this! In the end, sarcasm aside, however you slice the cake, the ceremonies were perverse, with the celebration of drag queens and transgenders and the final scene featuring a throuple (in this case, two men and a woman), moving toward sexual activity behind closed doors. Yes, this showcased "the vibrant and influential role of the French LGBTQ+ community." In the words of Le Filip, who recently won the "Drag Race France" competition, "The [French] government knows what it's doing. They want to show themselves in the best way possible. They showed no restraints in expression." And this leads me to back to my opening question: Why is this the way that France's LGBTQ+ community wants to be seen and known?" - Dr. Michael Brown

I thought mockery was a bad thing, Doc? Hypocrite. You should read about how God views hypocrites. Yes, you can make the argument that the presented scene was perverse. The problem is that is not the argument that has been made. Instead, the grievance merchants have sold Christians on a fabricated outrage about the last supper. They have bullied Christians, calling them toothless. This would be bad enough given the fact that the lost are you know, lost? Compounding that however is the basic facts that are being manipulated and lied about. The rest of this article from Brown tries to keep moving the goalposts. It delves into quotes from Brown's book against the LGBT community. I have no intention of giving my forum to his distractions. His presentation here has been duplicitous at best. He does conclude however with this:

"In the end, regardless of the degree to which every gay or lesbian or trans person on the planet is a fellow human being, created in the image of God and the object of His love, there is something fundamentally amiss with their desires and expression. In short, this comes down to a sexual deviation, expressed either in same-sex attraction or a confused gender identity (and in writing this, I recognize that in the overwhelming majority of cases, this deviation was not asked for or desired). When this deviation is celebrated, it brings the perversions to the surface, also providing fertile ground for satanic expressions. These would include a devil-horned drag queen reading to little children, celebrated on Pride.com with the caption, "This Drag Queen Dressed as a Satanic Goddess to Read to Kids" in honor of LGBTQ+ History Month and Halloween. We can now add to this list the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremonies, declaring to the entire world the fundamentally disordered nature of all sexualities and expressions that deviate from God's original design. May He have mercy, and may He redeem." - Dr. Michael Brown

Do you even understand how God redeems anymore Doc? Do you understand that Romans teaches the only way someone is saved is through hearing the gospel? Not the political rantings of a fool. May He have mercy indeed! We are supposed to deliver that message of mercy Doctor Brown. We are supposed to bring the gospel to the lost. Can't you even see that you dismiss out of hand here that everyone was created in His image? That Christ did not just die for you? Imagine if there were a group of zealous, fundamentalist, political Christians at the time you were saved who worked night and day to bring down all of those drug using hippies and dismiss them out of hand as so despicable and ruining the fabric of good and decent society. You might never have been saved at all Dr. Brown. Was Mike Bickle an expression of deviation from God's design? Was Ravi Zacharias? Was Robert Morris? Now, I know they did not dress up as girls. They only molested them. Oh, and then went to preach to the church about holiness. Go back and read the articles from Charisma News throughout the Bicklegate scandal. They were just as perverse if not worse than what happened in Paris over the weekend. They were probably worse because they pretended to represent God and His church while the folks in Paris made gave no such illusions. Do not fall for this onslaught of grievance coming from faux-Christian political operatives. They do not represent Christ or His gospel. They are like the Sons of Thunder asking God to reign down fire from heaven upon people that would dare to disrespect Jesus. Except it was never about Jesus and this isn't either. It was about them and their biases and their anger, and their grievance. So, Jesus rebuked them sternly and declared they did not even know what spirit they were of. As usual, the past is often prologue.
