Charisma News is in bed with Mike Bickle and has been for years. Dr. Michael Brown admits it. The CEO Steven Strang not only admitted it but declared Bickle had been exonerated, when he most certainly had not. The latest Charisma minion dispatched to defend the indefensible is Larry Tomczak. Mr. Tomczak is another in a long line of rabid dominionists and charismaniacs who have spent decades working with Bickle and are just refusing to see any possibility that their long-time friend was really sexually abusing women all the while. Reminds me of the denials from folks who worked with Ravi Zacharias after it was revealed that he had an international network of sexual masseuses. The above article from Tomczak is filled with nonsense meant to distract and has little to do with the case at hand against Bickle. Interestingly, Larry closes with all of the reasons why he is so compromised and should not be writing at all about this debacle:

"Here's the deal: In four-plus decades of relationship with Mike Bickle, I stand with him as a man who puts character before charisma. He lives in a modest home with a most generous heart. He's affirming, winsome and authentic. When he was transitioning from pastor to establish the International House of Prayer, he invited me to lead the church and was ever so gracious when I finally declined. While planting our church in a rented facility, I remember Bickle, our featured speaker, helping our takedown crew load up the van. On another occasion, after ministering for a weekend in our church, he gave his entire honorarium to our 20-year-old son in the parking lot so he could get engaged! Facing opposition from a combative local leader, Bickle humbly called me for advice. My wife (Bickle's her favorite Bible teacher) was blown away when he sent me home from Kansas City with a beautiful portrait of heaven. Every Friday, for years, I put out in our kitchen a picture of myself with Bickle and his wife, Diane, to inspire me for my weekly bridal fast. I say all the above while praying for God's perfect will to be done. I reiterate that accountability is essential. If the careful investigation reveals wrongdoing, I'm confident it will be handled biblically and redemptively with discipline and God's plan for restoration of this man of God who is a gift to the body of Christ worldwide. Yes Mike, we love and appreciate you even though you now stand credibly accused of vile sexual misconduct, spiritual manipulation and bullying. Unreal. What does Tomczak infer then about the accusers? Accountability is essential but it sure sounds as if Tomczak has already made up his mind. Dear Lord, he already thinks that even if he is guilty, there should be a plan for his restoration! Are you kidding me! In the warped mind of Larry Tomczak, even if Mike Bickle is found guilty, he has still been a gift to the body of Christ worldwide! No! No, he has not! Was he a gift when he prophetically lured a 19-year-old sheep into a four-year sexual relationship when he was 42 and married? If true, does it matter if he was teaching really good at the same time? I am reminded of Dr. Brown lamenting how good a "holiness teacher" Ravi Zacharias was. Was he really? No! He was a complete and utter hypocrite! I understand why Larry does not want the allegations to be true. He gives the game away here. His wife loves him. Their son's engagement was paid by Bickle and heck, he even helps the help pack up. Gosh darn it, how can someone so outwardly pure be so inwardly filthy? Human nature? False theology? Pretending to be a prophet when you know you're not? Either way, Larry Tomczak should be serving as a character witness if there ever needs to be a trial, not using a fake news platform to diminish the victims and provide cover for his good friend of forty years. That cover, is the other newsworthy thing from the above linked article:

"Go to the IHOPKC website and read the "Report on Initial Findings."

" Three of the women issued public statements refuting the allegations.

" The leadership team states abuse claims against Bickle lack evidence.

" Legal counsel and the leaders have determined the allegations "lacked any semblance of reliability or due diligence."

" A document originally prepared by the group supposed to accompany the allegations does not contain any actual evidence from the supposed victims.

" The group's allegations were accompanied by a list of "demands and threats," which included dictating the use of IHOPKC funds.

" One of the alleged victims (using only initials) accused Bickle of "prophetically manipulating" her 25 years ago. The allegations were all nonsexual, but the other woman referred to some physical contact." - Larry Tomczak

This is the textbook definition of providing cover for your friend. What Larry, the intrepid journalist he pretends to be, missed is that the Report on Initial Findings was written by current IHOP leadership who is decidedly "pro-Bickle." They had canceled plans to hire an outside group to investigate and instead decided that should be their role, despite not being objective. They have instead, lawyered up, by hiring one of the most renowned defense lawyers in the country. Other minions have publicly spread distrust of the three former IHOP leaders, who are working with the victims. Suddenly, these once respected former leaders are now painted as villains who wanted to overthrow Bickle and take IHOP over for themselves. So, while I appreciate the opinions of the current corrupted leadership as to what constitutes evidence, I would just as soon rather hear that from someone who doesn't have a dog in the hunt. The citation of "lack of evidence" has been floated before and appears to be saying that because some of the accusations, which pre-date texting and email common usage, do not have these proofs they somehow must be summarily dismissed. As if the eyewitness testimony of the victims, means nothing. The demands and threats is more subterfuge from the current leadership as the monies to spend was to secure and outside organization to properly investigate.

As for this prophetic manipulation charge, I am unsure which one it is because I do not have the details of the investigation. Do you know who else doesn't have them? Larry Tomczak. What I do know is one of these charges, which was about 26 years ago was from a woman who was 19 at the time when Bickle used prophetic manipulation to encourage a sexual relationship that lasted for four years and into the startup of IHOP. While we are on this subject, can defenders of Bickle stop referencing the fact that the charge is 25 years old as if that somehow allow us to dismiss it? If all that comes from this is one woman who at the age of 19 was spiritually manipulated into a four-year sexual relationship by the married Bickle, who was 42 at the time, is that enough? Or is the memory of that time when Mike Bickle gave our kid some money or helped pack up the ministry van more important than that one soul? The rest of Tomczak's offering here was just an abuse of scriptures that were not very convincing or well thought out. He does correctly say that the Lord hates someone who stirs dissension among the brethren.

Mike Bickle is not my brethren and never has been. He was not when he lied about hearing from God to start IHOP. He wasn't when he developed the horrific 24-7 model of forcing kids to stay up until 3 am for school credit. He wasn't when he embraced the bridal paradigm and all of the sloppy agape, Jesus is my lover faux worship music. He wasn't when IHOP covered up the Bethany Deaton murder. He wasn't when IHOP defended their ministerial staffer who had once admitted to sexually abusing a teenager. Do you know who are my brethren? The sheep caught up in this storm of heresy, lies and debauchery. The victims are my brethren. The community of IHOP, lied to for decades are potentially my brethren. If someone would just preach the real gospel to them. Larry Tomczak stands with his good friend. He could have done that however without publicly bearing false witness against the victims. Then again, why let a little thing like the bible get in the way of a good ole boys cover up. Why indeed.
