Kris Vallotton Pimping The Chosen in Interview with Dallas Jenkins

As a recipient of regular emails from Kris Vallotton, every now and again something strikes me as worth addressing. The email today was Kris promoting an interview he had with Dallas Jenkins about promoting the upcoming season of the wildly heretical "The Chosen." Since Kris was trained by Bill Johnson, he does not know any sound doctrine to be able to combat the deception of Jenkins and The Chosen. Here was what I had written about the inherent problems with this heresy:

"If we were unsaved, what would we glean from watching the Chosen? First of all, we would learn to minimize sin. Unsurprisingly, sin is constantly portrayed as a mistake instead of willful disobedience to God. John the Baptist is morphed into a "creepy" guy who decides to confront Herod because his followers would love it, instead of because he was a reprobate. The Chosen fundamentally changes the gospel into an unrecognizable story. It rewrites scripture. This is not just artistic license, although one could argue that using such on the words divinely inspired by the Creator of the Universe might be a bad idea. Peter was not a drunkard who cheated on his wife. Matthew was not autistic, presented as such to give his decision to become a tax collector a softer landing. The unsaved person would walk away from The Chosen with a much more feminist view than God portrayed when He wrote the scriptures. Mary Magdalene is presented as having been raped by a Roman solider to excuse her sin. The woman at the well is presented as having a cruel husband instead of merely being promiscuous as scripture teaches. The women are also elevated to far higher levels than is reasonably possible. Mary Magdalene did not lead the prayers during Sabbath! Dear Lord, Jesus, God Himself, was there! This is not even scratching the surface beloved. The Chosen is not presenting the gospel. It does not represent Christ or Christianity. It presents a false gospel that should be rebuked and avoided at all costs." - Anthony Wade

So, with this as the backdrop, I only want to comment on two of the snippets from the email Vallotton just sent regarding his latest interview with Jenkins. Let us reason once more together beloved.

"This attention to detail and commitment to excellence is what sets "The Chosen" apart. Dallas shares how they start with Scripture, carefully extracting clues about each disciple's personality. Then, they use artistic imagination to flesh out these biblical figures into relatable, three-dimensional characters." - Kris Vallotton

Carefully extracting clues? Is that how we are supposed to handle scripture now? Beloved, God did not give us His word so we can extract clues about anyone, let alone secondary characters. The bible is not about the disciples! It is about Jesus! Do you remember Him? The lost do not need Peter or Matthew to be "more relatable." They need Jesus to be center stage. By the way, based upon what they have gleaned, it appears they cannot even extract clues correctly. There were no clues that Peter was an unfaithful drunkard, Mary Magdeline was raped, or Matthew was autistic. Those are all evil manifestations of the wicked heart of Dallas Jenkins. Even if in some alternate reality they were, God never told us so in His word! With all due respect to the disciples but the bible was not written about them!

What struck me most was Dallas's heart behind the project. He's not just creating entertainment; he's providing a tool for people to encounter Jesus in a fresh, intimate way. As he put it, "The whole point of the show is for you to see Jesus through the eyes of those who actually met him and to be hopefully changed and impacted in the same way that they were."

Beloved, this is carnal arrogance gone wild. The purpose is money, pure and simple. Changing the back stories about all of the ancillary biblical characters does not allow people to encounter Jesus at all, let alone in a fresh intimate way. Do people need to meet Jesus in some kind of a "new" way anyway? Is not the gospel sufficient? Just look at the utter carnality of Jenkins and Vallotton gushing over the concept of people being impacted or changed instead of saved. The premise however is ridiculous. We are not seeing Jesus through the eyes of those who met Him! That is absurd because Dallas Jenkins just made up out of thin air back stories that are not true! This is what happens however when the church thinks we have to conquer cultural mountains instead of preaching the gospel. These are just NAR fever dreams. Churchianity gets so excited that a movie or TV series speaks about Jesus they never bother to check if the christ is false. The Chosen is produced and owned by the Mormon Church, which is a Satanic cult. Jenkins can try and pretend he is evangelical but he is just an opportunist within the apostate church system. As for Vallotton, he is just as bad. They are two peas in the same heretical pod. Do not be deceived beloved. Mark and avoid The Chosen, Jenkins, Vallotton and anything they are associated with.
