The worst part of this proposed bylaw is the abuse of the scripture regarding our imperative to love one another, which are the key verses today. Protecting child predators cosplaying as Christian ministers is not what Jesus was talking about when He commanded us to love one another. Loving one another means being honest about potential danger, such as a minister or volunteer who is assaulting our children. Make sure you do not lose sight of what IBC is trying to propose. They had a Director of Children's Ministry who committed sexual crimes against the children entrusted to him and leadership kept it silent for seven years. Then they had a volunteer in youth sexually abuse one of the youths and after some counseling, they put the wolf back in the sheep pen. As bad as that is, what they appear to be upset about is not how they were deceived. They were apparently not upset about lying to their own sheep for seven years or for returning an abuser to ministry with the youth. Nope. They were apparently upset that some folks talked about it. Instead of repenting, and I mean the leadership, they are beating their sheep and threatening them.
Let me save you the beating if you are at IBC. You are in a false church with hirelings instead of pastors. Do not wait for some charlatan faux-leader to try and strip your membership or like the poor lady from Gateway be escorted off the premises at gunpoint. Leave now. Mark and avoid and find a church that respects you.
