True Freedom in Christ

March 24, 2012

In my distress I prayed to the Lord , and the Lord answered me and set me free. -- Psalm 118: 5 (NLT)

Before Jesus comes into our lives we are bound by sin but even after salvation we can still find ourselves shackled to the very things Christ died to set us free from. There is so much in this world that can bind us and hold us captive. We can be held in bondage to guilt or shame in our past, fear and anxiety about our future, or sin relapses in our present.

We need to walk in the freedom Christ appropriated for us on Calvary. We need to realize that He died to take our past from us, secure our future for us and is always present with us through His Holy Spirit. Psalm 118 reminds us how simple it can be if we just believe. Whatever distress you find yourself in today pray to the Lord and He will be faithful to answer you. He will be more than willing to set you free when freedom is what you truly desire. That is the God we serve!
